Readers of the industry magazine Meetings & Incentive Travel
(M&IT) named the Scottish Exhibition + Conference Centre (SECC)
the 'Best UK Convention Centre' for the second year running. The
top award is one of a trio of prestigious accolades picked up by
Glasgow at the leading events industry awards. The triple win
underlines the city's commitment to the conference market.
The SECC beat off stiff competition from ACC Liverpool, One
Great George Street, and the RBS Williams F1 Conference Centre to
be named winners at the M&IT awards ceremony which is held in
London and widely regarded as the industry 'Oscars'.
Speaking of the achievement, Ben Goedegebuure, Director of Sales
at the SECC, said: "It's official, the SECC is the best in the UK.
This award is all the more important because it is our clients who
have voted for us. No one is better placed to measure service than
they are.
"Glasgow really is the place to do award-winning business. The
SECC's achievement is coupled with that of Glasgow City Marketing
Bureau which was recognised as Best UK Convention Bureau and
Leith's which won Best Food and Beverage Supplier.
"These achievements highlight how fantastic Glasgow is and it's
