SECC UNDERLINES MEDICAL CONFERENCE
CREDENTIALS
17 June 2010
The Scottish Exhibition + Conference Centre (SECC) is the venue
of choice for leading national and European medical associations to
host four major conferences in 2012 and 2014.
The events are set to attract over 5,300 medical professionals
to Glasgow.
First will be the Society of Chiropodists & Podiatrists
Annual Professional Conference and Exhibition in October 2012,
marking the organisation's centenary celebrations with 1,500
delegates.
The Royal College of General Practitioners Annual Primary Care
Conference follows suit, returning to the SECC in 2012 to build on
the results of its most successful conference to date held there in
2009.
In 2014, the SECC will host 1,500 leading specialists at the
European Congress of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, having beaten
competition from Istanbul to bring the event to Glasgow.
The Infection Prevention Society will meet in September 2014,
with 700 delegates looking at improving education in the field.
Ben Goedegebuure, Director of Sales, SECC commented; "Our team
has worked extremely hard and it's a fantastic achievement for them
to attract such high-calibre associations to Glasgow and the
SECC.
"While our reputation for unmatched customer service and client
support helps attract national and international association
business to Scotland, it's our close ties with the city's
universities and its scientific community as well as the Glasgow
City Marketing Bureau (GCMB) that clinched the deal."
GCMB Chief Executive Scott Taylor added: "Glasgow and Scotland
are renowned leaders in medical research and our growing reputation
as a business tourism destination is attracting considerable repeat
business to the city.
"Securing such well attended conventions is a result of GCMB,
SECC, hotels and academic partners working together to achieve
conference success."
